About Suzanne Jackson

Suzanne is a professional opera singer, a certified yoga instructor and the director of The Awakening Arts Studio. She holds a master's degree in voice performance from the University of Maryland and has performed as a resident singer with the Washington National Opera for more than two decades.


With over thirty operas in her repertoire, Suzanne has been featured on PBS in a production of La Rondine and on the Ten Show for her DVD entitled ChakraWakening. She is the creator of the YogaSing Method and is currently on the faculty of the Washington National Opera Summer Institute. She has served on the faculty for the Filene Young Artists Program at Wolf Trap, Operalia and the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program. She is in demand as a clinician and regularly presents YogaSing and "The Art of Wellness for Singers" workshops to universities, operas and conventions both in the United States and abroad.


She recently wrote and produced the musical Penny the Piano based on her children's book, Penny the One of a Kind Piano. The musical was premiered at the Jerry Orbach Theatre at the Snapple Theatre Center in New York City and was the featured performance for Target Family Night at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.


As the director of The Awakening Arts, Suzanne has taught voice, piano, yoga and Camp Create to students for 25 years. She now lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and three children.
